DESCRIPTION:This is course is designed specifically for women to connect with their feminine and intuitive side during birth and allow participants to spend time relaxing into the full spectrum of the emotions surrounding childbirth and becoming a mother. Using Karen Brody’s FEAR to FREEDOM method this course will offer the opportunity to connect a woman with her body and voice to create an action plan to have a more empowered\, and present\, birth experience.  The “Birth Empowerment Circle” includes:     “Mommy-centered” napping (using Yoga Nidra methods)   journaling exercises to gain a greater understanding of the multitude of emotions experienced along this journey   relaxation/visualizations for before and during childbirth as well as the postpartum period   movement and body exercises for the pregnant and postpartum body   breathing techniques to manage labor sensations   and so much more! SUMMARY:Movement & Breath for Labor & Delivery: A Workshop for The Pregnant Woman & Her Birth Partner
DESCRIPTION:In this interactive workshop\, the birthing woman and her partner learn to work  together\, in harmony with the rhythms of labor. Using key movements and  positions\, as well straightforward breathing and relaxation techniques\, the couple  create focus\, calm and unity; positively impacting the journey of bringing their  baby into the world. The workshop\, based on aspects of Yoga and steeped in the  timeless tradition of the empowered birthing woman\, is both informative and highly  practical.    Led by Juliana Mitchell. Juliana is a certified Prenatal Yoga teacher\, who has  over two decades of experience working with the breath\, as well as training and  experience acting as a birth coach.    The workshop includes:  • Information on the phases of labor  • Techniques for working with the breath\, to focus & calm the mind & body  • How to work harmoniously with gravity and the hormones of labor to  facilitate a more easeful labor childbirth  • Practical tips for the birth partner  • An explanation on timing contractions  • Practice working with a birth ball and learning about its benefits  • Experience using different positions and movements to decrease pain\, to  open the pelvis and to facilitate impactful contractions  • Informative hand outs  • Tools to empower the mom-to-be as she brings her baby into the world!    Space is limited to 10 couples. Register early    Wear clothes you can comfortably move in: no jeans\, no belts\, no suits and no skirts.  Be prepared to be barefoot.

DESCRIPTION:Come meet our doulas at our FREE doula open house!!  At BirthFocus we understand the process involved in choosing the right doula to join women and their families on a most intimate experience\, the birth of a baby! Our FREE "Eat\, Drink\, DOULA" open houses - held weekly at various locations throughout the city - give pregnant women\, and their partners\, a chance to learn more about our doula practice and to connect intimately with several doulas through one on one interviews.  We lovingly refer to these events as "speed dating for doulas" as each expecting couple will have a chance to meet with 4-5 doulas\, of varying experience levels\, throughout the event.  Please register for the open house of your choice and know that we are very much looking forward to meeting you!    **If you are not able to make it to one of our weekly doula open houses we can assist in arranging for complimentary private meet and greets at a mutually convenient location**         [contact-form-7 id="631" title="Event RSVP"]
