**Anne offers doula care to clients in Manhattan only ** Anne’s interest in helping women in pregnancy and birth comes from her own extensive personal experience as a mother of four. During her first pregnancy she took no fewer than three (!) childbirth classes (including a Bradley Method class taught by BirthFocus’ founder, Ilana Stein). Anne gave birth to her first child by cesarean section after a transfer from a birth center for failure to progress, then had three, unmedicated, doula attended, in-hospital VBAC births. A few days after her first vaginal birth, Anne was invited to speak on a panel on VBAC at the Listening to Mothers Survey Forum at the Maternity Center Association (now Childbirth Connections).  Based on her own experience, Anne is convinced that a doula really does make a difference! She breastfed all of her children until they weaned on their own, and has personal experience with tandem nursing, nursing during pregnancy, Hypnobirthing, and infant massage. Anne completed a DONA International Labor Doula training with Penny Bussell Stanfield in April 2012.  In addition to being a doula, Anne has a PhD in Italian literature, and has taught university-level Italian language and literature. Her academic research focuses on medieval women saints and mystics. Anne home schools her four children, loves running (she completed her first marathon in May 2012), and paints.
